The Brain in the Jar is a project that I completed over the summer that pushed me to familiarize myself with texturing inside of Mari. It also taught me the ins and outs of Vray rendering for Maya while strengthening my experience in look dev.
Throughout this project I was very intentional with how I constructed my textures. Instead of relying on ready made materials I challenged myself to break down the texturing process and source real world references for my concept.
I really came to enjoy the texturing process in Mari because it really forces you to understand how each node/action affects the final texture. It also requires a solid grasp of color space inputs and how/when to use raw scalar color space to examine the details of your textures.
